Gothic lifestyle of a 30something working girl

So, let me tell you my little story.

I’m 33 years old, and I’m still a goth.

I’m not a teenager that just things it's cool, or going through a rebellious phase.

There is nothing wrong with the teenagers that thing it is cool, because goth, ebm, industrial music it IS cool, and the younger you discover it the better.

However, many when they reach their late 20s are not listening to the music anymore and are enhancing their wardrobe with more colours. Still, nothing wrong with that.

But me, I’m getting “darker” actually as years go by. Actually I used to wear more colour when I was younger, but now there is nothing but black clothes in my closet.

Ok, ok, I have a white and dark red shirt for when I have to go to a meeting. Not that I can’t wear black on black, but sometimes I feel a bit “Covenant”, if you know what I mean.

So, in this personal note, I just want to point out, that even though I'm an adult into my early 30s, I still haven't given up my goth attitude (well more EBM actually). And I get so excited when I go to goth concerts and festivals and see many people like me that are in my age.
I go to work – I work with web development and SEO – and yes sometimes I get to dress up a bit more “professional” when I have meetings with clients, but it's always a “dark” influenced outfit and many of my accessories (earrings, bracelets) have to do with the Goth style.

Of course, I don’t wear heavy makeup or don’t put on fishnet tights; neither do I wear my big EBM boots. But I do wear some simpler Gothic dresses that are cute and flattering.

I’m going to make a simple Polyvore set, gothic style yet safe for work, just to give you a few suggestions.
(Polyvore is so cool!! )

I'm rather new there and I haven't found any real goth brands yet, but I'll do my best with any black clothes I find.

More styles to come. Stay tuned

i have to comment...immediately! i love your blog. i am 36 and i have always been a goth at heart. i found that too many colors on me or in my closet make me anxious which sends me into a manic phase. Your blog speaks to the older goths (with real jobs) that we can still express ourselves and still be professional at the same time. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
