My easter weekend and some Django (not so gothic related stuff here)

Well, I'm not a religious person but I enjoy the days off due to the Easter holidays.

It's a great time to do some work, without being interrupted by work related emails or phonecalls.

It's also a nice time to enjoy films. So, last night we, finally, watched Django. Wow!!
Amazing film! Tarantino is so awesome! Not to mention all the wonderful actors.
Jamie Foxx is without doubt an exceptional actor, however I adore Christoph Waltz. He is so damn talented and I cannot get bored of watching him act. Ever.

A highly talented and skilled actor. I would like to see him in a theatrical play, but that's almost impossible.

Granted this is not a very gothic-y post, but I just wanted to share my thoughts about the film. I'm not good at writing reviews, so this isn't a review film. However, if you are a Tarantino fan - or not - and haven't watched Django yet, go to your local video store or rent it online, whatever works for you, and watch it!

It's a masterpiece.

Quick goth/industrial style outfit TIPS for your club night

If you want to get a cool goth or industrial style, then you know it already that you need a couple of cool accessories. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a complete cyber industrial outfit (but if you can then that's great), instead you can just invest in some cool accessories, stay on budget and manage to create a cool outfit anyway!

So here are my tips.

I own this amazing Tripp arm warmers:

I love them. I can combine them with so many different clothes.

Now let's see.

  • Do you own a fishnet shirt?
  • A black athletic style shirt?
  • A black skirt?
  • Boots like Demonia,or doc martens or something similar?

Well, a fishnet shirt, a black tank top and a black skirt can be purchased for around 50$ (or similar) the most expensive would be the boots and the arm warmers. I know that.
But still, your budget will be less than buying a whole outfit form a goth shop. I love Tripp skirts but they cost around 500-600 SEK, that's around 70-80 dollars) so why not skip it and get a different cool black skirt, for less?

So here is a set I just made, with "regular" black clothes, besides the arm warmers and the shoes/booths.

Gothic style outfit

I used to love the industrial clothing style...

...but now that I am older I tend to go back to more classic, old school gothic style, if I can use that expression.

Hehe, I sound like a boring old person. But it's not like that.

I love watching people in fancy industrial and cyber clothes. As long as they make nice combination and are capable to "wear" it, if you know what I mean.

I love this shirt but this is - in my opinion - cool to wear in goth clubs or a concert:
lip service industrial top
LIP SERVICE FALLOUT RIB RACER HALTER TOP

Ok, truth be told, sometimes I still do it. I like my big demonia boots, my arm warmers with chains and my accessories and everything.

Oh and I am a sucker for skirts like this:

Skirt (see more goth skirts)

But sometimes I feel a bit "old" to keep dressing like this. Unless I go to an industrial band concert. Well, you might argue, "Well, duh, that's where you are supposed to dress like that". I know, I and couldn't agree more.

But recently I have been founding more appealing to me, to wear a cool fancy shirt, with a skull, or a steampunk pattern, a pair of black jeans, my black belt with red stars and my doc martens or my bikers boots.

And always "accompanied with" my black eyeliner and red lipstick makeup.

I guess I'm struggling inside to find a balance between my gothic - ok I will use the word alternative - self and my work self. But I refuse to get rid of my black awesomeness!

My 11 gothic and cyber clothing webshops, for men and women

So when I don't know what to do with my free time (as if that happens often :-)) I decide to browse for clothes and get inspiration ideas.

So I was searching for the well-known e-shops to check out the latest trends, and I bumped into some other web-shops that I personally didn't know before.

So why not make a list for easy reference ;) ?
(I think I will also make a google doc with a list just to have everything gathered there).

All time classic gothic and cybergoth clothes stores (at least classic for me).

  1. Lip service
  2. Heavy red
  3. Infectious Threads
  4. Good goth
  5. The black angel
  6. Redemption Klothing
  7. XtraX

  8. And stores that I discovered recently.

  9. Slash n' Burn
  10. Rivithead (large collection of boots)
  11. Aderlass
  12. Kambriel

And here is a gdoc link with all of the above links. Whenever I find a cool store, I will update the list.

Dr. Martens and a bit more

Last weekend I went shoe shopping. Yay.
So I got me a nice pair of doc martens (comfort to be precise), a pair of regular no-name (well I'm sure they have a name but it's not a big brand or anything) biker boots and a pair of black ballerinas for the whole 2 weeks of summer here in sweden. They were on a bargain price so I couldn't resist. Even though I'm not a huge fan of ballerinas, I admit that they are quite practical and since it rains a lot here, I wouldn't even consider looking for sandals (I leave that for when I visit Greece where it's a sandal overdose everywhere - and you can even find cool alternative style sandals)
So here they are:
doc martens black boots

black biker boots and black ballerinas

The above shoes are perfect even for when I have customer meetings. A pair of black jeans, a nice black shirt and some cool accesories, with either the martens or the bikers are perfect outfits for meeting with clients. At least here in Sweden and within my network of people.

Let's see if we can find something cool to match them.
