Lazy day in the world of goth

What I want to say with my post title is that it's Saturday and I am sooo lazy. I am in my sofa, with my laptop, enjoying my morning cup of coffee (priceless feeling) and blogging. I have no intention of doing anything whatsoever, including laundry or cleaning.  Ok I might have to eat.
I just want to enjoy my gothness by doing absolutely nothing :).
But I know that if I keep sitting in this sofa I will feel rotten so in the afternoon I might go for a walk to the forest near by. That's the benefit of living in Sweden. Wherever you are, there is always a forest near you. And I love it.
So yes, usually me and my significant other take afternoon walks on Saturday evenings. It's a nice but cold day so I might take my camera and shoot something.

Hmm, what's the soundtrack of the day?

Well of course The Cure - A forest

Gothic clothing for guys pinterest board

Well, look what I discovered today while browsing for some goth outfits. A pinterest board dedicated to men.

It's not mine so I'm not trying to promote it, I would have said so otherwise.

But I think it's a cool idea that deserves to be shared.

Gothic clothing for men styles tips and where to buy

I will write another post dedicated to men and where to buy gothic clothing items, since I get the feeling that there are more information about women out there and less about men.

---- Update --- I decided to update this post since many of the links don't work any more and because there are more awesome things I'd like to include here. I hope you'll enjoy it -----

So I sometimes browse gothic clothes for men in order to get ideas for my fiance. So here is what I found today.

I have no affiliation with these stores, I just browser stuff and I share them with you :)

Shirts and T-shirts for men

This e-shop is an interesting one. It's called Spiraldirect and it has clothes for both men and women but it seems that there are more items for men. Woohoo! Their clothes have mostly gothic and fantasy patterns on them and they are awesome.

Here are a few examples of shirts of all kinds with cool designs on them:
Find it here: http://www.spiraldirect.com/mens/dragon-heritage-t-shirt-black.htm

Sleeveless shirt with same design as above which has the same dragon/demon design in the back as well. Find it here: http://www.spiraldirect.com/mens/dragon-heritage-sleeveless-stone-washed-worker-black.htm
How about this Viking featuring shirt?
Find it here: http://www.spiraldirect.com/mens/viking-dead-shortsleeve-stone-washed-worker-black.htm

If you like tribal patterns then take a look at this:

Find it here: http://www.spiraldirect.com/mens/stained-tribal-inner-longsleeve-t-shirt-black-silver.htm

If you don't like big patterns or designs and you are more of a low profile guy but still like going into goth/ebm clubs and look cool here are some great shirts for you:

Find it here: http://www.spiraldirect.com/mens/metal-streetwear-shortsleeve-stone-washed-worker-black.htm

Find it here: http://www.spiraldirect.com/mens/metal-streetwear-shortsleeve-workshirt-black.htm
And why not this one:

Lets look for some pants for our goth men, shall we?

I probably have written again about x-tra-x. Well it's a great store with very good prices, so why not?

Here is a simple pair of pants. My advice is that if you are going to wear a heavy shirt, heavy as in with a lot of patterns, or a big stamp like the ones above, go for a simple pair of pants otherwise the whole outfit will look too heavy and busy.

Something like this should be fine:

Find it here: http://www.x-tra-x.de/clothes-male/pants-mens-skirts/hose-cash-jeans-19857.html
This one can work too:
Find it here: http://www.x-tra-x.de/clothes-male/pants-mens-skirts/hose-spiderweb-star-2334.html

However, you can have a simple black shirt or t-shirt, with no patterns or stamps and you can go crazy with the pants.
Like this:

Or this:

And these are my suggestions for today. I hope you enjoyed them.

Of course there are plenty more clothes and styles to experiment with and I definitely plan on making more posts like this with different outfits.

So stay tuned and stay goth!
X.

My Gamescom souvenirs and more

When I entered gamescom of course I was thrilled to be surrounded by games.

The place was huge.

However, I was so anxious of spending my money on the Valve store.

And here is what I bought
portal-halflife merchandise
Portal and Black Mesa coffee mug plus a "the cake is a lie" cake mix.
black mesa bracelete
My Black Mesa bracelet

And here are some more pictures of what they were selling.

Half life crub head

The man himself Gordon Freeman (sorry for the bad-mobile-phone-picture-quality)

Portal merchandise

And that's a small percentage of what I saw and did in Gamescom. But all in all, it was a blast!

My summer holidays and what does a goth wear during summer time, plus some gaming

It's been quite a while since my last update.
Guilty as charged.

I got a bit busy with my work and well as summer was approaching we started planning our summer holidays.

Since I'm from Greece it was no brainer. We booked our tickets and decided to stay for almost a month.

Since I have all my family there, it was convenient since we avoided paying too much on hotels. However we did do our road trips so we got to see amazing places.

It wasn't that much goth this trip. I mean yes, I did wear my Rammstein t-shirt, my black shorts and my doc
martens (luckily it was not that hot this summer) and well, mostly black clothes.
Here is a polyvore set I made that shows exactly my summer outfits.
Summer gothic style - simple

But our days were filled with sun (so anti-goth but needed for biological purposes as life in Sweden demands for that extra vitamine D), iced coffee and beer drinking, sea, enjoying the greek country side, and of course greek (mum's) food :).

It was refreshing but we both needed something more. And it came. We went to Germany to Gamescom!!
Hell yeah! It was good that we had a ticket for only one day, otherwise it would have been pretty expensive.

I went straight to the Valve merch-stand and went crazy shopping. Ok not that crazy because many items were already sold out.

But since I'm a Half Life/ Portal fan I did buy my coffee mugs, bracelet and even a cake mix (pictures coming).

Gamescom itself was amazing. Exhausting, but amazing.

I would love to go again next year.

As of now, well, I'm back on my routines, my school, my work etc.

And my love for the goth is still alive and kicking.

Updates and more pictures soon. Stay tuned

Cyberpunk gaming love: Deus ex: Human revolution

First, I must say that this is a tablet written post so pardon any mistakes.
Second, I just wanted to say that I finished Deus ex: Human revolution and .... :O what a game!

I loved everything. The story, the atmosphere, the action, the fashion,  ...oh my, the fashion.

I will come back with more material from the game. Right now I'm experiencing a full cyberpunk phase. That means I'm watching cyberpunk related films, I listen to the game's ost all the time and I intend to play more games like this.

It's not that I discovered something new for the first time. I have been into the whole cyberpunk stuff long time ago (neuromancer anyone?). But it's been a long time and I'm simply reliving it.

Stay tuned.

My easter weekend and some Django (not so gothic related stuff here)

Well, I'm not a religious person but I enjoy the days off due to the Easter holidays.

It's a great time to do some work, without being interrupted by work related emails or phonecalls.

It's also a nice time to enjoy films. So, last night we, finally, watched Django. Wow!!
Amazing film! Tarantino is so awesome! Not to mention all the wonderful actors.
Jamie Foxx is without doubt an exceptional actor, however I adore Christoph Waltz. He is so damn talented and I cannot get bored of watching him act. Ever.

A highly talented and skilled actor. I would like to see him in a theatrical play, but that's almost impossible.

Granted this is not a very gothic-y post, but I just wanted to share my thoughts about the film. I'm not good at writing reviews, so this isn't a review film. However, if you are a Tarantino fan - or not - and haven't watched Django yet, go to your local video store or rent it online, whatever works for you, and watch it!

It's a masterpiece.

Quick goth/industrial style outfit TIPS for your club night

If you want to get a cool goth or industrial style, then you know it already that you need a couple of cool accessories. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a complete cyber industrial outfit (but if you can then that's great), instead you can just invest in some cool accessories, stay on budget and manage to create a cool outfit anyway!

So here are my tips.

I own this amazing Tripp arm warmers:

I love them. I can combine them with so many different clothes.

Now let's see.

  • Do you own a fishnet shirt?
  • A black athletic style shirt?
  • A black skirt?
  • Boots like Demonia,or doc martens or something similar?

Well, a fishnet shirt, a black tank top and a black skirt can be purchased for around 50$ (or similar) the most expensive would be the boots and the arm warmers. I know that.
But still, your budget will be less than buying a whole outfit form a goth shop. I love Tripp skirts but they cost around 500-600 SEK, that's around 70-80 dollars) so why not skip it and get a different cool black skirt, for less?

So here is a set I just made, with "regular" black clothes, besides the arm warmers and the shoes/booths.

Gothic style outfit

I used to love the industrial clothing style...

...but now that I am older I tend to go back to more classic, old school gothic style, if I can use that expression.

Hehe, I sound like a boring old person. But it's not like that.

I love watching people in fancy industrial and cyber clothes. As long as they make nice combination and are capable to "wear" it, if you know what I mean.

I love this shirt but this is - in my opinion - cool to wear in goth clubs or a concert:
lip service industrial top
LIP SERVICE FALLOUT RIB RACER HALTER TOP

Ok, truth be told, sometimes I still do it. I like my big demonia boots, my arm warmers with chains and my accessories and everything.

Oh and I am a sucker for skirts like this:
Skirt

Skirt (see more goth skirts)

But sometimes I feel a bit "old" to keep dressing like this. Unless I go to an industrial band concert. Well, you might argue, "Well, duh, that's where you are supposed to dress like that". I know, I and couldn't agree more.

But recently I have been founding more appealing to me, to wear a cool fancy shirt, with a skull, or a steampunk pattern, a pair of black jeans, my black belt with red stars and my doc martens or my bikers boots.

And always "accompanied with" my black eyeliner and red lipstick makeup.

I guess I'm struggling inside to find a balance between my gothic - ok I will use the word alternative - self and my work self. But I refuse to get rid of my black awesomeness!

My 11 gothic and cyber clothing webshops, for men and women

So when I don't know what to do with my free time (as if that happens often :-)) I decide to browse for clothes and get inspiration ideas.

So I was searching for the well-known e-shops to check out the latest trends, and I bumped into some other web-shops that I personally didn't know before.

So why not make a list for easy reference ;) ?
(I think I will also make a google doc with a list just to have everything gathered there).

All time classic gothic and cybergoth clothes stores (at least classic for me).

  1. Lip service
  2. Heavy red
  3. Infectious Threads
  4. Good goth
  5. The black angel
  6. Redemption Klothing
  7. XtraX

  8. And stores that I discovered recently.

  9. Slash n' Burn
  10. Rivithead (large collection of boots)
  11. Aderlass
  12. Kambriel

And here is a gdoc link with all of the above links. Whenever I find a cool store, I will update the list.

Dr. Martens and a bit more

Last weekend I went shoe shopping. Yay.
So I got me a nice pair of doc martens (comfort to be precise), a pair of regular no-name (well I'm sure they have a name but it's not a big brand or anything) biker boots and a pair of black ballerinas for the whole 2 weeks of summer here in sweden. They were on a bargain price so I couldn't resist. Even though I'm not a huge fan of ballerinas, I admit that they are quite practical and since it rains a lot here, I wouldn't even consider looking for sandals (I leave that for when I visit Greece where it's a sandal overdose everywhere - and you can even find cool alternative style sandals)
So here they are:
doc martens black boots

black biker boots and black ballerinas

The above shoes are perfect even for when I have customer meetings. A pair of black jeans, a nice black shirt and some cool accesories, with either the martens or the bikers are perfect outfits for meeting with clients. At least here in Sweden and within my network of people.

Let's see if we can find something cool to match them.
