Gothic lifestyle of a 30something working girl

So, let me tell you my little story.

I’m 33 years old, and I’m still a goth.

I’m not a teenager that just things it's cool, or going through a rebellious phase.

There is nothing wrong with the teenagers that thing it is cool, because goth, ebm, industrial music it IS cool, and the younger you discover it the better.

However, many when they reach their late 20s are not listening to the music anymore and are enhancing their wardrobe with more colours. Still, nothing wrong with that.

But me, I’m getting “darker” actually as years go by. Actually I used to wear more colour when I was younger, but now there is nothing but black clothes in my closet.

Ok, ok, I have a white and dark red shirt for when I have to go to a meeting. Not that I can’t wear black on black, but sometimes I feel a bit “Covenant”, if you know what I mean.

So, in this personal note, I just want to point out, that even though I'm an adult into my early 30s, I still haven't given up my goth attitude (well more EBM actually). And I get so excited when I go to goth concerts and festivals and see many people like me that are in my age.
I go to work – I work with web development and SEO – and yes sometimes I get to dress up a bit more “professional” when I have meetings with clients, but it's always a “dark” influenced outfit and many of my accessories (earrings, bracelets) have to do with the Goth style.

Of course, I don’t wear heavy makeup or don’t put on fishnet tights; neither do I wear my big EBM boots. But I do wear some simpler Gothic dresses that are cute and flattering.

I’m going to make a simple Polyvore set, gothic style yet safe for work, just to give you a few suggestions.
(Polyvore is so cool!! )

I'm rather new there and I haven't found any real goth brands yet, but I'll do my best with any black clothes I find.

Gothic fashion for the fall

So, September is just around the corner and I have a hard time in finding with what my wardrobe should consist of, for this fall.

So far I have decided on a new pair of dr. Martens. Yum.

But I could use a couple of shirts from http://www.gothicfashion.se/ and maybe a new skirt, not too mini, just for everyday outfits.

Girls and boys, I will say it once more. If we are good at what we do (and well ok, we don't work in a bank) we can wear whatever we want. Stay goth/ebm/industrial..or whatever you want to call it. I know sometimes we need to dress up a bit more "properly" when there are meetings coming up, but still, wear that button up shirt, but use a cool backle or your favourite clubbing ring. It will look so cool with that suit ;)

Oops, got to go back to work.
Cheers

Tips for everyday goth - cybergoth - ebm outfits

Well, let's face it, just wearing black clothes, a simple pair of plack training pants, and a blank black t-shirt, will not make you goth.

It might sound silly to some, as in "appearence doesn't matter" but well, actually it does.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that if you don't dress gothic or ebm, you are not a worth-noticing person.

However, if you like that kind of music and you like the oufits, that means that you like to stand out and you like to be different.

And that's perfect.

So let me share a few simple tips.

When I go to work, I can't really wear mini skirts and fishnets, however I put on my black mini skirt (ok, not very mini, it's work after all) that has a few details, like a couple of laces in the front, nothing fancy.
And since I can't wear a fishnet tight, i choose to put on my opaque leggings.

Pick a plain black shirt (you know, the ones with the buttons) and have cool T-shirt on top (yep, you got it, time to pick one from our goth-ebm collection) and that's it.

Put on your boots, ok not that high heeled PVC boots, u know the other ones, the flat ones for everyday, or your allstar shoes or whatever and... there you have it!

Enjoy your casual day!
